本稿では地域のサービス経済化の状況を生産性の視点から明らかにすることを目的として、サービス業における集積効果の定量分析とその実態調査を行った。1980年以降サービス業は地域全体の雇用成長を牽引する役割を果たしているが、サービス経済化の進展は地域間で差異が見られる。首都圏では製造業の生産シェアの低下を伴う形でサービス業の雇用増加が見られる一方、地方では製造業の産出成長に呼応する形でサービス業の雇用が増加している。サービス業の立地分布を観察すると、対事業所サービスは首都圏を中心とした大都市地域に特化する一方、医療福祉サービスは地方に特化している傾向にある。さらに、人口集積の生産性に対する影響について分析を行ったところ、対事業所サービスにおいてその影響が強く、医療福祉サービスの業種ではその影響が弱いことが明らかとなった。

概要 （英文）

Our empirical analysis shows that the location distribution of information service is geographically biased and they locate at specific prefectures, such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Aichi. Since the sector has relatively higher labor productivity to other service sectors, the biased distribution of the location expands the regional disparities of averaged productivity in service sectors. While the information service agglomerates to specific prefectures, the medical and welfare services grow in every prefecture, and they reduce expanding trend of the averaged productivity gap. Our econometric analysis reveals that the intensive location of information service sector in specific regions depends on agglomeration effect. Furthermore, we conducted interview surveys to the executives of 10 service companies for assessing the benefit acquiring from agglomeration. The results of surveys shows that 1) the companies have choose the specific location because the location has recognized as a brand for the sectors by customers of the companies, and 2) face-to-face information exchange with other executives is critical condition to enhance their business activities.
