Solid Oxide Fuel Cells(SOFC)are being researched and developed because of those high electrical generating efficiency,high power density and excellent environmental conservation.In order to put SOFC to practical application,however,it is necessary to achieve lower initial and running costs.This report describes producing costs of two types SOFC;one is a"planar"type and another is a"tubular"one.There are some assumptions to estimate the costs.In the case of planar type SOFC with 0.21 W/cm2,the single cells could be fabricated by co-firing of doctor blade layers and separators could be prepared by firing of press molding bodies.On the other hand,the tubular type with 0.18 W/cm2 could be made using an Electrochemical Vapor Deposition(EVD)method or a Plasma Spraying(PS)method.These SOFC could be manufactured in 2,000 kW per month.Results of this cost estimating study are as follows:(1)The cost of planar type was calculated at about 118,000 yen/kW.The material cost accounts for nearly 60 percent.(2)The tubular type by the EVD method costs about 617,000 yen/kW.Material cost and labor expenses are 56 and 30 percent,respectively.
