CRIEPI is promoting the development of 66kV compact overherd transmission lines that are smaller in size and harmonized with the surrounding environment.The dounsizing of overhead transmission lines required the adoption of insulating arms and line spacers.So,we developed composite insulators,and verified their performance using newly installed combined acceleration aging testing equipment.This paper is mensioned to conmbined acceleration aging test results of composite insulators(insulating arms and line spacers)used to 66kV compact transmission lines.We installed combined acceleratinon aging testing equipment which can impose both electric stress and mechanical stress simultaneously on a composite insulator under simulated natural conditions.Combined acceleration aging tests of composite insulators that correspond to the actual use of 20 year,were performed for about 500 hours.During the tests,any of the composite insulators did not cauce flashover,berakge of the core or fracture of the metal fittings.The same composite insullators were the subjected to various performance tests including;impulse.Ac and pollution resistance,and mechanical resistance.These tests confirmed initial deterioration in insulation and mechanical force.The newly deviced combined acceleration aging tests confirmed that the developed composite insulators have a durability of more than 20 years.
