概要 (英文)
Many short circuit faults occurring in an electric power system accompany arc discharge.If an arc is generated in an enclosed space,it generates heat which raises the internal pressure,for lowering the reliability of equipment.Shortening the arc length is considered to be one of effective methods for decreasing the arc energy.To prevent the elongation of arc passage,a model with a metallic material such as wire netting or grating installed near cables was used for measuring the arc energy,and the following results were obtained.(1)It was confirmed that if the distance between the cables and the metallic material was shorter,the arc energy was less.(2)A flat relatively thick grating used as the metallic material gave a constant energy decrease effect during energization.A wire netting wound around a fault location exhibited a higher energy decrease effect than the grating in the beginning of the fault.(3)The above measure could decrease the arc energy to lower than one half of the conventional energy,and a prospect could be obtained on the possibility to half the heat and the resultant pressure rise.
