本調査報告は,既存の石炭火力発電およびCWM等の次世代の石炭火力発電における環境対策技術へのバイオテクノロジーを用いた微生物的コールクリーニング技術の応用の可能性についてまとめたものである。現状の物理,科学,微生物的コールクリーニング技術につて,その特徴を抽出,比較した結果,処理コストが安く,比較的良好な除去率が得られるのは微生物的コールクリーニング技術であると考えられた。この技術の電気事業に最も適した方法は,CWM製造プロセスにおける浮選処理と併用する方法と貯炭場においてヒープリーチングを行う方法であろう。
概要 (英文)
COAL IS RECEIVING INCREASING ATTENTION BECAUSE PETROLEUM RESOURCES WILL RUN OUT IN THE NEAR FUTURE. HOWEVER,TO INCREASE USE OF COAL AS A FUEL FOR COAL-FIRED POWER PLANTS,NEW TECHNOLOGY TO REDUCE SULFUR-DIOXIDE EMISSIONS DURING COAL COMBUSTION IS REQUIRED. COAL-CLEANING TECHNIQUES: REMOVAL OF SULFUR,NITROGEN,METALS,AND ASH FROMCOAL,HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATED. THIS REPORT SURVEYED CURRENT COAL-CLEANING TECHNIQUES AND INVESTIGATED MICROBIAL COAL CLEANING FOR BOTH CURRENT COAL-FIRED POWER PLANTS AND NEW POWER PLANTS SUCH AS COAL-WATER MIXTUREPOWER PLANTS OR COAL-GASIFICATION COMBINED-CYCLE POWER PLANTS. COAL-CLEANING TECHNIQUES ARE CLASSIFIED INTO THREE AREAS: (1)PHYSICAL,(2)CHEMICAL,(3)MICROBIAL. PHYSICAL COAL CLEANING IS CURRENTLY USED IN COAL DRESSING. AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD TO PHYSICAL COAL CLEANING WAS CHOSEN FOR THE COAL PARTICLE SIZE. CHEMICAL AND MICROBIAL COAL CLEANING HAVE NOT YETBEEN APPLIED TO COMMERCIAL SYSTEMS.WHILE THE REMOVAL RATIO FOR SULFUR AND ASH FROM COAL BY CHEMICAL COAL CLEANING IS HIGHER THAN THE OTHER TWO,IT HAS SOME DISADVANTAGES SUCH AS EXTREMELY HIGH TEMPERATURE AND/OR PRESSURE,AND LOSS ENERGY THROUGH THE TREATMENT. MICROBIAL METHODS REQUIRE NEITHER HIGH TEMPERATURE NOR PRESSURE. THE REMOVAL RATIO FOR MICROBIAL COAL CLEANING IS BETTER THAN THAT FOR PHYSICAL CLEANING. THE TREATMENT COST IS LOW IN THE ORDER OF PHYSICAL,MICROBIAL,AND CHEMICAL COAL CLEANING. MICROBIAL COAL CLEANING MAY BE APPLIED AS A COAL-CLEANING TECHNIQUE BEFORE COMBUSTION FOR COAL-FIRED POWER PLANTS. TWO KINDS OF MICROBIAL COAL CLEANING METHODS WILL BE POSSIBLE. ONE IS THE APPLICATION OF MICROBIAL TREATMENT TO FLOTATION TO IMPROVE THE REMOVAL RATIO FOR SULFUR AND ASH. THE OTHER IS HEAP LEACHING AT THE COAL STORAGE SITE. THESE WILLREDUCE SULFUR EMISSIONS AND ASH OUTPUT FROM CWM OR COAL-GASIFICATION COMBINED-CYCLE POWER PLANTS. TO ESTABLISH MICROBIAL COAL-CLEANING SYSTEMS,RELATED TECHNIQUES (ACIDIC DRAIN TRANSACTION SYSTEMS ETC.)MUST BE DEVELOPED SIMULTANEOUSLY.
