生物系廃棄物の種類と利用状況，内外のリサイクル技術の研究開発動向について調査し，課題を明らかにした。1. 農林水産業や食品産業，外食産業，家庭で発生する生物系廃棄物には，家畜糞尿，食品産業汚泥，生ごみ，わら類，建設廃材，木くず，動植物残渣などが，電気事業に関連する廃棄物には，ダム流木や付着生物，クラゲがある。これらは，コンポストや土壌改良，畜舎敷料，木材チップ，燃料，飼料などに利用されているものもあるが，生ごみや建設廃材，ダム流木，付着生物の多くは焼却あるいは埋め立て処分されている。2.コンポスト化や燃料としてのエタノール生産は実用化されており，メタンを利用した熱併給発電や燃料電池は実証段階である。研究開発中の課題には，微生物による水素生産や家畜糞のオイル化，木炭による環境修復，付着貝類の養魚飼料化などがある。

概要 （英文）

Recycling of organic wastes is an important issue for establishing a sustainable society. In this report, we investigated kinds of organic wastes and reused products, and the state of technologies for recycling based on the literature review. The current states and problems are summarized as follows. 1. Kinds of organic wastes and reused products Organic wastes from the agriculture, forestry, fisheries, food industry, food service industry and home are livestock waste, food industrial sludge, garbage, rice and barley straw, timber of construction by-product, wood waste, animal and plant residues, bark and shell. Organic wastes related to the electric power industry are dam driftwood, sessile organisms and medusa. The main products made from organic wastes are compost, soil conditioner, litter for livestock barn, wood chip, dry kiln fuel and livestock diet. But the garbage, timber, sessile organisms and medusa are almost abandoned. 2. The state of technologies for recycling organic wastes Compost production and ethanol synthesis as fuel have been practically conducted. The technologies for methanol and methane synthesis to use as energy sources have reached the proof stages. The up-to-date research topics for organic wastes recycling are hydrogen production by microorganism, oil production from livestock waste, remediation by charcoal, fish diet production from sessile organisms.
