あらゆるものがネットワークを介して自律的に通信を行うユビキタスネットワークでは、音声や動画像などの大容量データをリアルタイムでやりとりすることができる超高速の無線通信環境が要求されている。これを実現する無線方式としてUWBに対する注目が集まっており、UWB技術の研究、開発や標準化活動が活発に行われている。 本報告では、UWBに関する技術動向および適用について調査を行い、UWBの電気事業への適用可能性を明らかにする。その結果、主に以下のことが明らかになった。(1)UWBとは、基本的に無線信号をインパルスとして送信することで、超広帯域の周波数帯を占有し、短距離での超高速通信や測距を実現する無線方式である。(2)UWBは既存の無線システムへ干渉を与える恐れがあり、試算の結果などから、電気事業へのUWBの適用にあたっては十分な検討が必要である。

概要 （英文）

Recently, ultra-high-speed radio communication that can transmit large data applications such as voices and movies is required to realize "ubiquitous network" where everything communicates automatically each other. UWB (Ultra WideBand) is getting attention as one of the ultra-high-speed radio communication ways and its researches and standardization activities are into practice. In this report, we survey current techniques of UWB and their applications. Based on survey, the followings are clarified: UWB technology is expected to realize ultra-high-speed radio communication occupying very wide frequency spectrum. In order to apply UWB to communication in power utilities, it is important to clarify the interference to other power utility machines.
