当所では、燃焼試験炉を用いて未利用炭を実機に導入する際の燃焼特性、石炭灰性状および排煙処理特性を事前に評価する技術（微粉炭火力用石炭総合評価システム）の開発を進めている。NOx および灰中未燃分については、横型の石炭燃焼試験炉（略称：BEACH 炉、石炭燃焼量：100kg/h×1 バーナ）を用いて、相対評価ができることを明らかにした注１)。ただし、BEACH 炉は、その石炭灰の性状が実機石炭灰と大きく異なり、また排煙処理方式も実機とは異なるなどの問題点があった。当所では、実機と同様の竪型炉および排煙処理装置を持つ石炭燃焼特性実証試験装置（略称：MARINE炉、石炭燃焼量：100kg/h×3 バーナ）を設置し、石炭灰性状および排煙処理特性の評価技術の開発に着手した。

概要 （英文）

The authors is now developing the new system, which can evaluate the fly ash properties for actual power stations, by use of CRIEPI’s coal combustion test furnaces (the horizontal type furnace and the vertical type furnace). In this study, fundamental properties (particle size distribution, specific surface area by the Braine method, particle density and particle shape) of fly ash generated in the horizontal type furnace and the vertical type furnace are compared with those of actual power stations. The properties of the fly ash generated in the horizontal type furnace are not associated with that of the actual power stations, because unburned carbon content of the fly ash of the horizontal type furnace is extremely high. The particle size of the fly ash of the vertical type furnace is smaller than that of the actual power stations. However, the properties of the fly ash generated in the vertical type furnace are strongly associated with those of the actual power stations.
