THE COMBINED EMBRITTLEMENT EFFECTS OF HYDROGEN ABSORPTION AND TEMPER HEAT-TREATMENT IN THE MARTENSITIC STAINLESS STEEL OF SUS 410JI WERE INVESTIGATED BY MEASURING CRITICAL STRESS INTENSITY FACTOR,TENSILE PROPERTIES AND SO ON. MAIN RESULTS WERE AS FOLLOWS: (1)CRITICAL STRESS INTENSITY FACTOR FOR HYDROGEN EMBRITTLEMENT(KIH)DECREASED BY TEMPER EMBRITTLEMENT TREATMENT AT 520 DEGREE.KIH VALUES OF AS-RECEIVED AND TEMPER-EMBRITTLED(520 DEGREEX100HR)MATERIALS WERE 216 229 KG・MM**-3/2 AND 122 129 KG・MM**-3/2,RESPECTIVELY. (2)UNDER CONTINUOUS HYDROGEN CHARGING CONDITION,TENSILE PROPERTIES WERE NOT DEGRADED BY TEMPER EMBRITTLEMENT TREATMENT. (3)IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE EMBRITTLEMENT DUE TO THE COMBINED EFFECTS OF HYDROGEN ABORPTION AND TEMPER HEAT TREATMENT WOULD NOT EASILY OCCUR IN SHROUDWELDS MADE OF SUS 410J1 UNDER WELL-CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT AND MATERIAL CONDITIONS.
