FOR DEVELOPMENT OF A HIGH-EFFICIENCY GAS-TURBINE,IT IS NECESSARY TO IMPROVE THE RELIABILITY OF A HIGH-TEMPERATURE DISK,WHICH IS ONE OF SUPERALLOY COMPONENTS,AS WELL AS A COMBUSTOR,A VANEAND A BLADE. IN A PROJECT CRIEPI HAVE PARTICIPATED IN FOR DEVELOPING THE HIGH-EFFICIENCY GAS-TURBINE,APPLICATION OF A PRECIPITATION HARDENINGNI-BASE FORGED SUPERALLOY,IN-718,WAS DETERMINED TO THE HIGH-TEMPERATURE DISK IN A 1300 DEGREE-CLASS PILOT PLANT. HOWEVER WE HAVE NO EXPERIENCE OF MANUFACTURING A LARGE IN-718 FORGING IN JAPAN. SO,TRIAL PRODUCTIONOF A DISK WAS DONE FOR SECURING OUR MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY,AND,TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THIS OPPORTUNITY,MANY KINDS OF TEST WERE CARRIED OUT FORESTIMATING THE MECHANICAL AND METALLURGICAL PROPERTIES OF THE IN-718 FORGING. AS A RESULT,THE LARGE FORGED DISK WAS FOUND TO SATISFY HIGH LEVEL SPECIFICATION AND CAPABILITY REQUIRED FOR SUCH A DISK. THIS REPORT DESCRIBES THE RESULTS OF ISOTHERMAL AND THERMAL FATIGUE TESTS WHICH WEREDONE IN CONNECTION WITH THE ABOVE ESTIMATION-TESTS. ALSO,THIS YIELDS AGUIDE OF HIGH-TEMPERATURE FATIGUE TO DESIGN,MANUFACTURE,OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE LARGE FORGED IN-718 DISK.
